Waterfront Gathering Space

The client for this project owned a single-family residence at the edge of a reservoir. The vision was to create a level gathering space, enhance pedestrian access to the dock, and increase the overall value of the property for future sale.

The sloped backyard covered a horizontal distance of about thirty feet and dropped over three feet from the back door to the client’s dock on the waterfront. The contractor and I measured the space by hand using tapes and a grade rod.

My final design for the space includes a patio space, ramp, steps, railings, light posts, and plantings amidst a series of curving retaining walls.
